Hello! Im Mel a maker/artist/mum based in Dunedin, NZ.  Two Fantails Design was an idea I started working on while pregnant with my daughter.  I stumbled across some pinterest posts about making clay figures and then I got stuck in the bermuda pinterest triangle and managed to make my way out with three boards of clay earring ideas.  Originally medically trained and having worked at Dunedin Public Hospital for twenty years Ive always had a creative side that I explored during my spare time. 

I started making earrings when I had to leave work early on in my pregnancy and I have been busy creating whenever there is any time left over from wrangling my delicious little exuberant two year old.  

The name Two Fantails comes from a family story that my maternal grandparents have returned as Fantails.  My sister, mother and I are frequently visited by a pair of Fantails at each of our homes and we fondly refer to these visits as Nana and Grandad checking in on us and their great grandchildren.

I love creating earrings out of polymer clay and resin.  There are endless designs bouncing around my head so I cant wait to make them a reality and see someone enjoy wearing them.  This usually means the earrings I make are unique and one of a kind.  I started out making colourful and funky statement earrings, but quickly found I couldn't wear these with a surprisingly strong newborn (ouch!).  So I also enjoy creating small and simple stud designs.  I only use hypoallergenic surgical stainless steel as most of my friends have sensitivity issues with jewellery - we love how comfortable and lightweight these earrings are.  I hope you love them too.
